This Installation Guide is intended for the administrator or IT user that will perform the initial installation and configuration of the server. It is assumed the reader is familiar with Windows OS, IIS, and the database that Process Director will use.
Server System Requirements #
Hosting Process Director in the BP Logix Secure Cloud imposes no special system requirements for your desktop or mobile device. All recent-release modern browsers are supported. No downloads or plug-ins are required.
If you plan to host Process Director in your data center, please note these requirements for your application server:
- Microsoft Windows 2012, 2016 Server (all service packs are supported, 32- and 64-bit), or higher.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or higher, Oracle 11g or higher
- .NET Framework 4.5
- Dual-core 2 Ghz (or higher) CPU, minimum 16 GB memory, minimum of 64GB storage (SSD recommended)
- Low-latency, wide bandwidth connection to your database server
- For Process Director v5.44.600 and higher, the most recent Microsoft Rewrite and Advanced Request Routing IIS modules must be installed. These modules can be downloaded and quickly installed by obtaining the ARR v3.0 download package from Microsoft. Microsoft states that the ARR download package should already contain the existing External Cache Module dependency, so it should be the only installation you need to perform. This dependency file can, if necessary, also be separately downloaded from Microsoft.
Installation Process #
Installing Process Director requires completing a series of tasks, both to configure the server on which the product will be installed, and for installing the product itself. Even if you are an experienced server administrator, you should familiarize yourself with the unique requirements of Process Director before proceeding with the installation.
BP Logix Recommends that you perform the installation in the following order. Each of the links below will open the relevant section of the Installation documentation in a new browser window.
- Familiarize yourself with the Process Director installation environment.
- Install the product on the target server.
- Create the database that will be used to store Process Director data.
- Configure the Process Director IT Settings to connect to the database.
- Configure the Installation Settings for the general Process Director Properties.
- Review the Installation Completion section for other actions you might need to complete, such as syncing Active Directory or setting up Windows Authentication.
Some users will be licensed to install multiple instances of Process Director on the same server. For these users, the process described in the Multi-Instance Installations sections is a required prerequisite.
